Five from Emory Track & Field Selected to NCAA Indoor Championships

Five members of the Emory University Track and Field teams have been selected to compete in the upcoming NCAA Division III Indoor Championships on March 8th and 9th at the Reggie Lewis Athletic Center in Boston, MA.

Seniors Dani Bland, Dilys Osei and Kayla O’Shea were among those chosen to compete in individual events on the women’s side while sophomore Liam Fost and freshman Brett Henshey will represent the Eagles for the men.

Bland is set to compete to both the 60m and 200m Dashes for the third straight season and earned All-America acclaim in the 200m last year, placing fourth overall. She enters with the 18th fastest seed time in the 60m at 7.77 and is 19th in the 200m at 25.19. Bland will be joined in the 200m with Osei who enters the field with the 11th fastest seed time at 25.07. Osei is also set to compete this weekend in the 60m Hurdles, ranking 11th in the 20-person field with a time of 8.92. It will be her first time competing in individual events at indoor nationals after earning All-America honors as a member of the 4x400m Relay each of the last three seasons.

O’Shea will be making her first career appearance at the NCAA Indoor Championships, earning a spot in the Mile, making the cut at 19th with her time of 5:04.53.

Fost and Henshey will both join O’Shea as first-time competitors at nationals. Fost ranks eighth entering the weekend in the 400m Dash while Henshey is 20th in the high jump at 2.04m.

Prelims of all five running events will take place Friday afternoon with the finals to follow on Saturday: Women’s 60m Hurdles (2:00pm), Women’s 60m (2:30pm), Women’s Mile (5:00pm), Men’s 400m (6:00 PM) and Women's 200m (6:50 PM). The finals of the men’s High Jump will occur Friday evening, beginning at 6:00 PM.
