32 members of the Emory University Swimming and Diving programs will be making the trek to Indianapolis, Indiana for the 2018 NCAA Division III Championships. This year’s version of the national meet will run Wednesday, March 21st through Saturday, March 24th at the IU Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI in downtown Indy with the Indiana Sports Corp. and Franklin College serving as the host organizations for the meet.
The Eagles will look to put more gold on the banners located inside the Madeleine Jude Brown Aquatic Center when the meet gets underway on Wednesday as Emory enters as the reigning national champions on both the men’s and women’s side. The Emory women will try to extend their national reign to nine straight team titles and 11th overall in the last 14 years while the men are hopeful to recapture more of the glory from the 2017 national championship winning squad, which marked the first-ever in program history.
The women, along with Kenyon College, are set to send a full slate of 18 swimmers to Indy. Swimmers invited to the meet include seniors Sia Beasley, Megan Campbell, Cindy Cheng, Phoebe Edwards, Ming Ong, Rebecca Upton, Julia Wawer, juniors Ashley Daniels, Julia Durmer, Hannah Lally, Fiona Muir, Meg Taylor, sophomores Maria Kyle, Caroline Olson, Maria Turcan and freshmen Lucy Daro, Bethany Seagraves and Rachel Song.
For the men, the Eagles saw 13 swimmers earn invitations to Indy with seniors Henry Copses, Aaron Schwartz, Oliver Smith, Cooper Tollen, juniors Zachary Chen, Thomas Gordon, Alex Kohlman, Trey Kolleck, Matt Rogers, sophomores Evan Brock and Sage Ono and freshmen Sven Mesihovic and Kellen Stillman making the cut for the Eagles. Seniors John Copses will also be traveling with the team as a relay alternate.
Preliminaries are set to begin at 10:00 AM every morning with the finals to follow in the evening at 6:00 PM EST.
