The Eagles Weekly Preview for October 7th – 13th. This preview is to serve as a weekly snapshot of all upcoming events for Emory athletic events for the coming week.

 

Women’s Golf

The women’s golf team opens the week of action competing at the Laurel Valley Invitational, hosted by Carnegie Mellon University. The two-day tournament kicks off Monday afternoon at 1:30 PM and runs through Tuesday afternoon.

Women’s Soccer

The women’s soccer team (6-3, 0-1 UAA) heads to Rome, GA Tuesday afternoon to face the Berry College Vikings (5-3-2) in the second to last non-conference game of the season before hosting No.-6 ranked Washington University in St. Louis (10-1-1) on Saturday. Senior Shivani Beall tallied her third goal of the season in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Chicago, giving her three goals and three assists for nine points in her senior season.

Men’s Soccer

The men’s soccer team (5-4-1, 0-1 UAA) face two more tough tests this week as Covenant College and Washington University in St. Louis visit the capital of the South. The Scots have won two straight to push their overall record to 10-1-1 while the Bears are coming off a UAA opening win over Rochester on Saturday and enter the week with a record of 6-2-1.

Volleyball

After pushing its winning streak to nine games, including most recently with a pair of 3-1 wins over WashU and NYU at the UAA Round Robin II on Sunday, the top-ranked Emory volleyball team (15-1) is back on the hardwood Thursday night in a non-conference match against regional foe Birmingham-Southern College (12-4). Senior Elyse Thompson highlighted the Eagles at the UAA Round Robin, totaling 41 digs across the two wins to become the all-time leader in school history with 1,519 in her stellar career.

Women’s Tennis

The women’s tennis team returns to the courts after a dominating performance at the ITA South regional as the team travels to Statesboro for the three-day Georgia Southern Shootout. Freshman Alexa Goetz and sophomore Christina Watson headlined the Eagles in late September, sweeping the singles and doubles titles at the regional championships.

Men’s Tennis

The men’s tennis team continues its fall season this weekend as the team makes the trek to Lawrenceville for the three-day Grizzly Open at Georgia Gwinnett College. Sophomore Antonio Mora was recognized by the ITA recently as he was named the National Player of the Month for September after capturing the regional singles title and teaming with junior Will Wanner to win the doubles crown.

Swimming & Diving

The swimming and diving teams kick off the 2019-20 season with the annual Blue-Gold instrasquad meet Friday afternoon at the Madeleine Jude Brown Aquatic Center. Blue took home bragging rights at last year’s meet, winning 168-120 over the Gold squad.

Men’s Golf

The top-ranked men’s golf team rounds out the week of competition as the team begins play at the Golfweek Division III Invitational in Sandestin, FL on the Raven Course. The 54-hole tournament begins Sunday and runs through Tuesday, October 15th.
