Emory Track & Field Conclude Action at Berry Field Day Invitational

The Emory University Track and Field teams concluded competition at the Berry Field Day Invitational on Saturday, finishing first in the men’s standings and second in the women’s. The men scored 95.5 points over the two-day meet while the women recorded 136.5 points at the meet.

Senior Gabrielle Stravach registered her second event win of the meet as she finished first in the 800m Run with a time of 2:19.79. Junior Dani Bland added a second place finish in the 100m Dash at 12.28 with classmates Dilys Osei and Kayla O’Shea also turning in individual top-three finishes on the day for the women. Osei took third in the 100m Hurdles in a time of 15.21 and in the 800m Run, O’Shea was third at 2:20.90. In the 4x100m Relay, Bland, Osei, senior Julia Leventhal and freshman Rebekah Bondi posted a season-best time of 48.27, placing second in the event at 48.27.

For the field events, freshman Taylor Robinson was second overall in the javelin throw at 34.42 to lead the Eagles. Emory added a pair of fifth place efforts as classmate Leelah Wilburn recorded a team season-best mark of 37.10m in the discus while sophomore Kaitlyn Iwanowicz posted a mark of 4.99m in the long jump.

Sophomore Alex Campbell and senior Benjamin Rogin highlighted the Emory men in the track events on Saturday with Campbell placing second in the 3000m Steeplechase in a time of 10:12.33 and Rogin finishing third with a season best time of 14.91.

Senior Max Brown registered a fourth place showing in the 800m Run with his time of 1:56.92 with sophomore Mason Lewis and freshman Liam Fost also scoring for the Eagles. Fost took sixth in the 400m Dash at 50.48 with Lewis placing eighth in the 100m Dash at 10.92.

Over in the field events, junior Zachary Lembersky was a third place finisher in the discus with a season-best distance of 41.09m. Senior Charlie Hu also finished third in the javelin with a distance of 50.33m.

The Eagles continue their outdoor season next weekend with the Mount Laurel Invitational at Sewanee.
