Holli Dawson & Chris Blocker Join Emory Athletics Training Staff

Emory University Head Athletics Trainer John Dunham has announced the addition of Holli Dawson and Chris Blocker to the department’s athletic training staff.

Dawson joins the Eagles after spending the past three years (2014-15 through 2016-17) as assistant athletic trainer at Limestone College (SC).  During her stint at Limestone, she was responsible for the prevention, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries for the baseball, golf, women's basketball and men's lacrosse teams.

Prior to Limestone, Holli worked as an athletic trainer at the Mississippi Sports Medicine Orthopedic Clinic (2012-14), and did an internship at NCAA Division I member Gardner-Webb University.

A native of Beaufort, South Carolina, Dawson completed her undergraduate degree at Limestone in 2012, earning a B.S. in Athletic Training.  While at Limestone, she was a four-year member of the volleyball program where she was a three-time co-captain and team MVP.  She worked as an Athletic Training Student at Limestone, accumulating approximately 700 clinic hours working with a number of teams.  She received the school's Athletic Training Student of the Year Award (2009-10).  Holli obtained her M.S. in Exercise Science from Mississippi College in 2014.

She is a member of the National Athletic Trainer's Association and First Aid Certified in CPR/AED.

Blocker arrives at Emory after serving as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at Life University. During his stint with the Running Eagles’ program, he worked with the men’s basketball, men’s soccer, bowling and swimming programs. The men's basketball squad advanced to the final game of the 2017 NAIA national championship.

Chris attended the University of North Carolina at Pembroke where he earned his B.S. degree in Athletic Training in 2015.  While at UNCP, he worked as a student trainer, assisting with a host of teams including wrestling, softball, soccer, basketball, tennis and football.  He also performed rotations at Red Springs High School and St. Paul’s High School as an undergraduate.

A native of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Blocker earned his master’s degree in Sports Injury Management from Life University in June of 2017.  He is a member of the National Athletic Trainer’s Association and a licensed athletic trainer in the state of Georgia.  He is First Aid Certified for CPR/AED.
