Emory Track & Field Open Georgia Tech Invitational on Strong Note

The Emory University Track and Field teams began the Georgia Tech Invitational on a strong note on Friday as the Eagles saw six personal-records set on day one of the meet.

Junior Paris Wagner led off the afternoon for the women, posting a new PR in the hammer throw as she finished 17th with a mark of 45.86m. Freshmen Carrie McIntyre and Abby Durfee also turned in personal-best times in 5000m Run with McIntyre finishing at 18:22.13 and Durfee at 18:28.67.

In the 1500m Run, senior Gabrielle Stravach and junior Maeve Andrews each ran season best marks with Stravach finishing fourth overall in the Division I-laden field with a time of 4:28.95 and Andrews clocking in at 4:50.91.

Sophomore Gabrielle Davis represented the Eagles as well in the 100m Hurdles, registering a time of 15.84.

For the men, seniors Benjamin Rogin and Max Brown each impressed on the evening, moving up on the Emory all-time ranks with new personal-best times. Rogin climbed into second on the all-time list in the 110m Hurdles with his mark of 14.75 while Brown moved into ninth in the 1500m Run at 3:54.67.

Freshman Jacob Hedgepeth added a PR in the 1500m with a sub-4:00 time of 3:59.52 and junior Bennett Shaw recorded a season best mark in the 3000m Steeplechase at 9:25.64. Sophomore Samuel Branson also ran in the 1500m Run, crossing the finish line with a time of 4:01.52.

Emory closes out the Georgia Tech Invitational on Saturday with members of the team set to compete in the high jump, pole vault, 400m Hurdles, 800m Run, 4x100m Relay and 4x400m Relay events.
