Women's 4x400m Relay Breaks School Record at Georgia Tech Invitational

The Women’s 4x400m Relay team highlighted the afternoon for the Emory University Track and Field teams at the Georgia Tech Invitational, breaking the program record in the event.

As the lone Division III team competing, the Eagles’ group of junior Dilys Osei, sophomore Kaitlyn Leonard, junior Dani Bland and senior Erica Goldman impressed, finishing second in the 16-team field with a time of 3:44.64. Their mark set a new school record, besting the previous top time of 3:45.92 set by Osei, Goldman, senior Julia Leventhal and junior Ariana Newhouse at the 2016 NCAA Championships.

Osei, Bland, Goldman and freshman Rebekah Bondi added an impressive showing earlier in the afternoon in the 4x100m Relay, placing seventh at 47.18. Their time was the fastest in the event this season and ranks seventh on the Emory all-time list.

The two relays climbed into top-four positions nationally with the 4x400 improving upon its Division III leading time. Emory now owns the fastest 4x400m time in the country by nearly seven seconds as of Saturday night and is ranked fourth in the 4x100m, just .48 seconds off the national lead.

Three Eagles also turned in personal-bests on Saturday with junior Kayla O’Shea posting a time in the 2:17.26 in the 800m Run, freshman Thomas Perretta in the 800m Run at 1:57.26 and senior Benjamin Rogin in the 400m Hurdles at 54.58. Rogin’s mark also moved him into fifth place on the Emory all-time list.

Next up for the Eagles will be the UAA Outdoor Championships which will be held on April 28th and 29th in Pittsburgh, PA at Carnegie Mellon University.
