Emory Athletics Weekly Preview: 10/11 - 10/17

The Eagles Weekly Preview for October 11th – 17th. This preview is to serve as a weekly snapshot of all upcoming Emory athletic events for the coming week.

 

Men's Golf:

After finishing in a tie for first at the Wabash Invitational last week, the No. 3 ranked Emory men's golf team returns to action this week at the Tartan Invitational in Ligonier, Pennsylvania. The Eagles will travel five golfers: Logan Ryan, Max Schwarz, Michael Rosenbloom, Davis Hingten and Josh Qian. The 54-hole tournament, hosted by Carnegie Mellon, will be played at the 7100 yard, par-72 Laurel Valley Golf Club course. The Eagles will close the week competing at the Golfweek Invitational in Sandestin, Florida.

Volleyball:

The No. 13 ranked Emory volleyball team opens play this week against No. 15 ranked Berry College before competing this weekend in the third UAA round robin. The Eagles (14-3) take on Berry (15-1) Tuesday evening in Rome, GA. In the third and final UAA round robin, Emory looks to distinguish themselves among conference opponents Rochester (N.Y.) (5-13) and No. 19 ranked Chicago (11-6).

Women's Tennis: 

The Emory women's tennis team will send the ITA Regional finalists to compete at the ITA Cup in Rome, GA this weekend. Freshman Eliza McPherron qualified in singles by winning the ITA South Regional Tournament. The doubles teams of Alexa Goetz/Xuanjin Li and Emma Cartledge/Jessica Fatemi qualified for the ITA Cup by both making the finals of the ITA South Regional.

Men's Tennis:

The Emory men's tennis team will send seniors Andrew Esses and Sahil Raina as well as Samuel Dean and Santiago Suarez to compete in doubles at the ITA cup this weekend. By virtue of being the doubles champions at the ITA South Regional Tournament, Esses and Raina qualified to compete against other top competitors in the nation in Rome, GA.

Women's Soccer:

After losing a heartbreaker in their last game to No. 3 WashU, the No. 25 ranked Emory women's soccer team (8-3-1, 0-2-0 UAA) looks to improve their conference standing as they face off against No. 10 ranked Case Western Reserve and No. 17 ranked Carnegie Mellon this week. The Eagles will recognize seniors Emma Platt, Lily Dresner, Lauren Mahoney, Lindsey Breskow, Molly Miller, Arielle Williamson, Lindsey Reina, Samantha Hilsee and Tierney Lanter in a pregame ceremony on Sunday.

Men's Soccer:

The No. 15 ranked Emory men's soccer team opens its week taking on Case Western Reserve before a tilt with Carnegie Mellon on Sunday. The Eagles (6-1-3, 1-0-1 UAA) look to strengthen their position within the conference standings against these two conference opponents this weekend. The Eagles will recognize seniors Cole Gallagher, Jack Hudson, Josh Berman, Charlie Scruton, Will Tichy, Nate Sampson, Max Mehlman, Matt Engler, Ethan Cohen, Jae Ahn and Daniel SanGiovanni in a pregame ceremony on Sunday.

Cross Country:

The Emory men's and women's cross country teams will send a contingent to Meadowbrook, AL for the UAB Classic. This marks the last tune up opportunity before competing at the UAA Championships on October 30th.

The Emory women's golf team will embark on its fourth tournament of the fall semester, most recently competing in the Williams College Championship, as they travel to Sandestin, FL for the Golfweek Invitational.
