Alana Dawson & Sharon Mun Earn UAA Athlete of the Week Honors

Emory University sophomores Alana Dawson and Sharon Mun were recognized as University Athletic Association Athletes of the Week Monday afternoon for their performances this past week. It is the third career weekly honor for Mun while this marks the first career weekly selection for Dawson.

Dawson was one of nine players named to the East-West Classic All-Tournament Team after leading the Eagles to a 2-1 record vs. three top-10 programs including wins over #2 Trinity and #7 Johns Hopkins. The Eagles added a win over West Georgia to go 3-1 in four matches during the week, improving to 5-2 overall. Dawson totaled 59 kills across the four matches while hitting at a .370 pace with 44 of her terminations coming during tournament play and recorded a season-best 18 kills vs. Trinity Friday night.

Mun won the second tournament of her collegiate career this past weekend at the Hamilton College Invitational. Mun shot a one-under par 145 (73-72) to help the Eagles win their first tournament of the year against four teams ranked in the top 25 including No. 4 Williams and No. 8 NYU. Mun was the only golfer at the tournament to hit par or better in both rounds of the 36-hole tournament.

The volleyball program will return to action this weekend with the first UAA Round Robin hosted by WashU while the women's golf program will hit the links again on September 26-27 at the MCC Invitational in Montgomery, AL.
