The Emory Athletics Weekly Preview for September 12th – September 18th. This preview is to serve as a weekly snapshot of all upcoming Emory athletic events for the coming week.
Men's Soccer:
The Emory men's soccer team looks to rebound following a 0-1-2 week with three matches away from campus. The Eagles begin the week with SAA foe Sewanee Wednesday night before traveling to Lexington for two at Washington & Lee: Hampden-Sydney and the host Generals.
Wednesday evening marks the 41st career meeting between the Eagles and Tigers with Emory holding a 34-6 advantage including a current string of 13 consecutive wins. Last year, the Eagles scored twice in the second half to earn the 2-0 decision. Friday will be the 10th overall meeting with Hampden-Sydney and the first since 2010. The Eagles have had much success in the all-time series, going 8-0-1 across the nine previous meetings. The weekend concludes with a matchup with the 13th-ranked Generals, the ninth overall meeting in the series. Emory leads 4-3-1 with the lone tie occurring last season in Atlanta.

Cross Country:
The cross country programs return to competition with the second meet of the year as the Eagles make their way to Macon for the Julius Johnson Invitational. Emory is coming off a successful season debut in early September where the men's team earned a team win while the women placed second in a primarily Division I-packed field at the JSU Foothills Invitational.
Senior Spencer Moore paced the men's team with his performance where he outran the field by more than five seconds and was recently honored as the USTFCCCA NCAA Division III Men's Athlete of the Week. Classmate Annika Urban garnered UAA acclaim for her efforts, winning the individual title as the only runner to finish under 14 minutes.

Women's Soccer:
Fresh off a 5-1 win over East Text Baptist in the home opener, the women's soccer team is set for matches against a pair of regional foes this weekend. Emory will host the Tigers of Sewanee at the WoodPEC Friday night before traveling to Charlotte to take on Lynchburg on the campus of Charlotte Latin School.
Friday will be the 32nd all-time meeting with Sewanee with the Eagles leading the series 27-2-2, having won nine straight by a combined score of 32-2. Last year, Emory notched three goals including two within the first eight minutes of the game to record the 3-0 decision. Sunday will be the 23rd meeting against the Hornets of Lynchburg and the second straight year the two will be squaring off in Charlotte. Lynchburg has won five of the last six to take a 10-9-3 lead in the all-time series with the Eagles last win coming in overtime back in 2019.

Women's Tennis:
The women's tennis team makes its return to competition for the first time this fall as the Eagles will send a contingent of players to North Carolina for the Elon Fall Invitational. Emory is set to bring back five players from the 2021-22 squad that advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals and will integrate the nation's top recruiting class to the mix in 2022-23.

Volleyball:
Following a 3-1 week that included wins over #2 Trinity and #7 Johns Hopkins, the Emory volleyball program will head to St. Louis, MO for the first UAA Round Robin of the 2022 campaign. The Eagles are set to face conference foes Case Western Reverse, Rochester and Chicago across two days at WashU beginning with CWRU on Saturday. Sophomore Alana Dawson highlighted the Eagles at the East-West Classic over the weekend, posting 44 kills including a season-high 18 against the second-ranked Tigers, to earn a spot on the All-Tournament Team and her first-ever UAA Athlete of the Week honor. Emory, who moved up 10 spots in this week's AVCA national poll to the #4 position, owns a collective 118-33 record against the trio of weekend opponents
