Emory Athletics Weekly Preview: September 19-25

The Emory Athletics Weekly Preview for September 19th – September 25th. This preview is to serve as a weekly snapshot of all upcoming Emory athletic events for the coming week.

Women's Tennis:

The Emory University women's tennis team will play host to the ITA South Regional tournament this weekend as they welcome over 80 players to compete in both singles and doubles. The Eagles will have 10 players competing in the three day event from September 23rd to September 25th with all 10 competing in both singles and doubles. Sophomore Eliza McPherron was the 2021 ITA South Regional singles champion as she became the 19th consecutive winner from Emory. Senior Alexa Goetz was a member of the doubles tandem that took home the ITA South Regionals doubles crown in 2021 becoming the 14th consecutive Emory team to win the doubles title. The doubles pairings for the 2022 ITA South Regional tournament will be freshman Izzy Antanavicius and junior Ilayda Baykan, freshman Iris Berman and freshman Alyssa Margolin, seniors Alexa Goetz and Stephanie Shulman, freshman Emily Kantrovitz and sophomore Eliza McPherron as well as freshman Alessia Martinez and junior Ana Cristina Perez. The draw for the tournament is expected to be released early this week.

Women's Soccer:

The Emory University women's soccer team stays on the road as they look to continue their hot streak against Maryville. The Eagles (4-2) carry a three-game winning streak into Maryville, TN where they will face off against the Scots (4-2-1) on Friday at 6:00 PM. The Eagles sport an impressive 15-1-2 all-time record against the Scots including a current six-match winning streak. Senior LJ Kolodge has been an integral part of Emory's offense this season as she has scored three goals over the past two contests including the game-winner over Sewanee.

Men's Soccer:

The Emory University men's soccer team returns home this weekend after a six-game road trip when they will take on regional foe Rhodes. The Eagles (1-3-4) will face off against the Rhodes Lynx (3-0-2) on Sunday at 3:00 PM at the Woodruff PE Center with hopes of adding a win to their slate. The Eagles hold a 9-1-1 all-time series advantage over the Lynx with Emory winning their last three contests. Senior Alejandro Gomez has lived up to his billing coming into the season as the team's leading goal scorer with four through eight matches including a goal in each of the teams last two matches.
