Emory University Director of Recreation & Athletic Operations For Facilities Timber Hines has announced the appointment of Gracie Gould as Aquatics Coordinator.

Gould’s primary functions will be to oversee the utilization, operation and maintenance of the Madeline Jude Brown Natatorium at the Woodruff PE Center and the Student Activity and Academic Center (SAAC) pool.  She will manage all aspects of pool safety to ensure county code and university policies are enforced; oversee the aquatic users, and coordinate the aquatic activities within the overall mission of the Department of Athletics.

Gould joins Emory after serving as Assistant Director-Aquatics Education & Programs at Purdue University beginning in 2014. While at that post, she oversaw the aquatics programming for the Cordova Student Recreation Center including planning, scheduling and supervision of group Learn-to-Swim classes, private/semi-private swim lessons and aquatic certification classes for Purdue University affiliates and the local community.  In addition, she conducted staff training instruction and supervision of approximately 30 student and part-time employees.

Prior to her Purdue experience, Gould worked as an Aquatics Graduate Assistant (2012-2014) at Georgia State. In that capacity, she conducted staff training, instruction and supervision of student employees.  She contributed marketing initiatives to help increase awareness of the Student Rec Center, as well as teaching American Red Cross courses and providing support for facility operations, programming and special events.

She is certified as a Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor and Instructor Trainer, Water Safety Instructor, Pool/Spa Operator, CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor and Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer.

A native of Atlanta, Gould graduated from Berry College in 2010 with a degree in exercise science and earned a master’s degree in sports administration from Georgia State in 2014.
