Emory University will make the drive south to LaGrange College
this week, as the Eagles will take on the Panthers at 6:00 PM on
Tuesday.
The Eagles are 12-11 this season, including a 1-2 record in road
games. Emory is coming off a doubleheader split against
Edgewood College on Friday at Chappell Park, which including a 10-5
victory in the final game of the day.
LaGrange College will begin the game with a 15-11 record this
season, including a mark of 12-10 at home during the season.
The Panthers have won seven of their last nine games, with all but
one of the nine taking place at their home ballpark.
Earlier in the season, Emory defeated LaGrange 8-5 at Chappell Park
during the Rawlings Southern Classic. Emory senior
Mark Terranova allowed two runs in five innings to
earn the victory in the game, while sophomore Kevin
O’Connor went three-for-four with a home run and two
RBIs, and Jonathan Reilly went two-for-three with
three RBIs. The Eagles are 24-8 all time against LaGrange,
including wins in nine of the last ten meetings.
Emory Notes:
Despite going just 2-2 last week, the Eagles outscored
their opponents 42-27 during the four games… The Eagles hit
five home runs as a team last week, and now have 16 this season,
matching the team’s total from all of 2009… Sophomore
Jonathan Reilly hit .625 (10-for-16) last week
with three doubles and 10 RBIs during the four Emory games…
Reilly is now batting .386 with a team-high 26 RBIs this season,
and is leading all Emory players during the last 10 games with a
.465 batting average, five doubles and 16 RBIs… Junior
Patrick Riebsame has an 11-game hitting streak,
the longest this season by an Eagle… Junior Ryan
Jones currently has a 10-game hitting streak.
