Emory Baseball Blanked at Berry College, 5-0

The Emory University Baseball team dropped a road contest at Berry College Tuesday night, falling to the Vikings 5-0 in Rome, GA. The Eagles slip to 4-5 with the defeat while Berry improves to 5-1.

The Emory offense was limited to just two hits on the evening as Spencer Johns, Luke Crawford, Milan Sutaria and William Gibbons combined for the shutout. Sophomore Christopher Stern recorded both hits for the Eagles, going 2-for-4 as he now has collected at least one hit in all nine games to begin the season.

One of Stern's two base hits came in the top of the ninth as the Eagles tried to mount another late-inning rally. After a walk to senior Bubby Terp, Stern singled through the left side. Both runners moved up into scoring position on wild pitch but were left stranded as Gibbons struck out junior Eric Terry and senior Josh Rosenblatt to end the ball game.

Freshman Jack Moore pitched well despite dropping to 1-1 on the mound. Moore allowed two runs (1 ER) on seven hits in 5.1 innings of work. He struck out three and did not walk a batter.

Next up for the Eagles will be a matchup at No.-7 Birmingham-Southern College on Wednesday, February 28th. First pitch is set for 6:00 PM EST.
