Emory Baseball Drops Home Contest to Adrian, 9-5

The Emory University Baseball team dropped its fourth consecutive contest on Friday afternoon, falling to Adrian College, 9-5, at Chappell Park in Atlanta, GA.

Junior Jackson Grayson went 1-for-2 with two RBI off the bench to lead the Emory offense while senior Danny Kerning collected two hits and two runs scored. Freshman Jack Moore took the loss as he allowed six runs (3 ER) on seven hits in four innings of work.

After falling behind 2-0 in the second inning, the Eagles quickly responded as sophomore Christopher Stern drove home junior Eric Terry with a double to left center and later, sophomore Michael Wilson singled home Stern.

The Bulldogs extended their lead to 9-2 with a single run in the third and three-run innings in both the fifth and seventh including home runs by Chad Paddock and Hunter Hayes.

Emory cut the deficit to 9-4 in the seventh as freshman Jacob Singer picked up a sac fly before Grayson brought home Kerning with an infield single to third. The Eagles kept the hope of a comeback alive in the bottom of the ninth as Grayson plated Kerning with a sac fly to make it 9-5. Sophomore David Shore followed with a two-out walk but Adrian's Mo Hanley struck out James Pittinger swinging to end the ballgame.

The Eagles return to action tomorrow, Saturday March 2nd, as they face Marietta College in a neutral game at Berry College in Rome, GA. First pitch is set for 4:30 PM.
