Oglethorpe Uses Four-Run Seventh to Down Emory Baseball, 6-2

Oglethorpe University broke a tie ballgame with a four-run seventh inning en route to a 6-2 victory over the Emory University Baseball team Tuesday night at Anderson Field in Atlanta. With the defeat, the Eagles fall to 13-15 on the season while OU improves to 23-12.

Senior Josh Rosenblatt knotted the score at 2-2 in the top of the seventh with a run-scoring single to center to plate sophomore Richard Brereton. However, the Stormy Petrels answered in the bottom of the inning with four runs, three earned, off freshman reliever Sam Pennell including a go-ahead RBI double by Sam Held to earn the win.

Brereton collected two of Emory's three hits in the contest, going 2-for-4 and scoring both of the team's runs. Freshman Jake Kessinger recorded his first career RBI with a sac fly in the second inning.

The Eagles return to the UAA slate on Friday with the series opener against Brandeis University. First pitch from Chappell Park is set for 3:00 PM.
