Emory Baseball Falls to Huntingdon on Senior Day

The Emory University Baseball team saw its senior day spoiled on Saturday afternoon as the Huntingdon College Hawks edged out the Eagles, 7-5, in game two of the series at Chappell Park in Atlanta.

Prior to the start of the game, Emory honored seniors Nick Chambers, Josh Rosenblatt, Mitch Kerner and Rhett Stuart with a special on-field ceremony.

Trailing 7-3 entering the bottom of the ninth, the Eagles sparked a rally to begin the frame as sophomore Richard Brereton drilled a two-run home run to whittle the deficit to two with no outs. However, HC's Carden Mellown retired three of the next Emory batters to record his first save of the season.

Brereton finished the afternoon 2-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored with Chambers added two hits and walk. Freshman Jack Rubenstein and sophomore Christopher Stern each drove in a run in the defeat.

Sophomore James Robertson was handed the loss as he allowed two runs (1 ER) on three hits and five walks in 4.1 innings in relief of Stuart who lasted three innings in his second start of the season. Jacob Munn earned his first win of the season, tossing four scoreless innings out of the pen for Huntingdon. He gave up just four hits and two walks and one strikeouts.

The Eagles and Hawks close out their weekend series on Sunday at Chappell Park with first pitch set for 11:00 AM.
