Five Eagles Earn All-UAA Baseball Honors; Terp, Brereton, Stern Named to First Team

The Emory University Baseball team placed five student-athletes on the All-University Athletic Association team as it was announced Wednesday afternoon by the conference office.

Senior Bubby Terp and sophomores Richard Brereton and Christopher Stern were honored with First Team selections while senior Nick Chambers and freshman Jack Rubenstein were named to the league's Second Team.

Terp earns his second straight All-UAA First Team honor after batting .321 (45-for-140) in 38 games. Terp also tied for the team lead in RBI with 33, was second with a .395 on-base percentage and was third with a .414 slugging percentage.

After earning UAA Rookie of the Year acclaim as a freshman, Brereton makes his first appearance on the league's First Team after excelling for the Eagles both on the mound and at the plate. Brereton was the lone Eagle to start in all 38 contests in 2018, finishing with a .320 average and leading the team in runs (37), hits (48), doubles (10), triples (3), slugging percentage (.467) and stolen bases (13). On the bump, Brereton, overall, was 5-4 in 12 appearances including 11 starts with a 3.60 ERA and 66 strikeouts in 70 innings pitched while opponents batted just .226 against him. During four UAA contests, Brereton went a perfect 4-0 with a 2.04 ERA, compiling 29 strikeouts in 31 innings and tossed one complete game.

Stern had a breakthrough campaign for the Eagles as he garnered the first All-UAA kudos of his career. He ended his sophomore season with a team-leading .328 batting average, 33 RBI, and three home runs in 36 games played.

Chambers rounds out his Emory career with his second straight All-UAA Second Team selection. The Indianapolis, IN native appeared in 37 games, making 36 starts, and hit at a .315 clip (46-for-146). He drove in a career-high 25 runs and added eight doubles, one three-bagger and nine stolen bases.

Rubenstein compiled a fine freshman season to earn Second Team honors. He played in 32 of the team's 38 games, hitting for a .286 average to go along with 11 runs, seven doubles, 14 RBI and 15 hit-by-pitches which ranks 15th in Division III.

The Eagles finished the 2018 season with a 20-18 overall record and were second in the UAA standings with an 11-5 record.
