Emory University Baseball players Jack Rubenstein and Jack Brodsky were named the University Athletic Association Athletes of the Week after helping the Eagles to a 2-1 record during the opening week.
Rubenstein stuffed the stat sheet during Emory's first three games, batting .455 (5-for-11), with three runs, a double, one RBI and leading the team with four hit-by-pitches and three stolen bases. Rubenstein had multi-hit performances in both of the team's wins over LaGrange and Whitworth including the third three-hit game of his career.
Brodsky collected two wins in relief as the Eagles went 2-1 during the opening week. Brodsky pitched 3.2 innings total allowing just one hit to go along with four strikeouts during his two outings. He tossed a scoreless ninth in the opener against LaGrange and went 2.2 scoreless in the win over Whitworth on Saturday.
The Eagles are back at Chappell Park this Friday and Saturday with a three-game series against Washington & Lee University.
