Moore Goes Eight Strong as Emory Baseball Snaps Losing Skid

The Emory University Baseball team snapped its six-game losing skid on Sunday, defeating Middlebury College, 8-2, in the final game of the three-game weekend series at Chappell Park in Atlanta.

After using 11 pitchers in the doubleheader on Saturday, sophomore Jack Moore came through with a huge outing for the Eagles on Sunday, tossing a career-best eight innings to record his first win of the season. Moore held the visitors scoreless through the first five innings before surrendering a run in the sixth. In total, the second-year right-hander allowed two runs (one ER) on eight hits and three walks in his eight frames while striking out three Panthers.

Emory got off to a hot start in the ballgame, scoring three times in the opening stanza. Sophomore Jack Rubenstein plated the game's first run with a RBI single to left before junior Jacob Greene followed with a bases loaded walk and a run-scoring ground out by junior Richard Brereton.

The Eagles scored four more times in the fourth to break open the game with junior David Shore and senior Bubby Terp collecting RBI base hits. Senior Jackson Grayson added a sac fly in the inning while freshman Zeke Diamond plated a run as he reached on a fielder's choice.

Greene put the finishing touches on the win as he belted in second home run in as many days with a blast to left in the seventh inning.

Emory, now 7-8 on the year, returns to the diamond this Tuesday, March 19th, against in-state foe Berry College. First pitch from Chappell Park is set for 3:00 PM.
