Emory Baseball Win Streak Snapped Friday Night at Huntingdon

The Emory University Baseball team saw its season-long five-game winning streak snapped Friday night, falling to Huntingdon College by a score of 8-4 in Montgomery, Alabama. With the win, the Hawks improved to 22-7 while the Eagles dropped to 12-11.

Freshman Zeke Diamond continued his hot hitting, extending his hitting streak to a team-best eight games with a game-high three hits. Senior Jackson Grayson was 2-for-4 in the defeat with one RBI while classmate Bubby Terp was 1-for-5 with his lone hit leaving the ballpark for his second home run of the season.

Junior James Robertson allowed three runs, two earned, in 5.2 innings in the no decision. He struck out three and walked two. Freshman Jack Brodsky fell to 4-2 on the year as he saw three runs, one earned, come across under his watch on no hits and three walks in two-thirds of an inning.

After the Hawks broke a scoreless game with two in the third, the Eagles scored single runs in four straight frames from the fourth to the seventh and held a 4-3 lead entering the bottom of the seven. Huntingdon capitalized on two walks, two hit-by-pitches and several Emory defensive miscues in the inning to push home three runs to take the lead for good.

The Eagles and Hawks are scheduled to play game two of the weekend series on Saturday, weather permitting, at 2:00 PM EST/1:00 PM CST. Please see emoryathletics.com for any potential weather related scheduling changes.
