The Emory University baseball team won game two of the Saturday doubleheader at New York University to earn a spilt of the afternoon twinbill in Brooklyn, NY.
With the win, the Eagles reached to the 20-win mark for the ninth consecutive season and 27th time in program history.
Game 1 – NYU 7, Emory 4
A pair of three-run innings did the damage in game one as the Eagles dropped the series opener to the Violets.
NYU's Gabriel Golob tossed 7.1 innings to record his fifth win of the season while on the other side of the diamond, sophomore Jack Moore fell to 3-3 as he was tagged with six runs (4 ER) in six innings. He struck out six in the outing.
At the plate, senior Jackson Grayson was 2-for-4 and had a two-run double. Classmate Bubby Terp registered a game-high three hits in a 3-for-4 effort with a double.
Game 2 – Emory 8, NYU 5
The Eagles doubled their run production from the first game, tallying eight runs on 11 hits.
Junior Richard Brereton tied his career-high with nine strikeouts as he allowed three runs in seven innings as he improved to 3-1. Brereton added two hits at the dish, going 2-for-5 with a run scored and stolen base.
Sophomore Michael Edelman launched his first career home run in a 2-for-4 day, scoring twice, driving in a pair and swiping two bases. Classmate Drew Bartholow had a game-high three hits as he fell a home run shy of the cycle. Sophomore Jack Rubenstein was 0-for-2 but did manage to tie his career-high with three stolen bases.
The Eagles close out the regular season on Sunday with another doubleheader beginning at 9:00 AM EST.
