The Emory University baseball team placed three members on the University Athletic Association's All-Association Team as announced Wednesday morning by the conference office.
Junior Richard Brereton and freshman Zeke Diamond were tabbed to the All-UAA First Team with junior Ryan Adelman joining them with Second Team honors. For the full All-UAA team, please click here.
Brereton makes his second consecutive appearance on the All-UAA roster with a superb junior campaign. The Darien, CT native ended the season with team-highs in average, hits, total bases, slugging percentage, stolen bases, multi-hit games while adding a 3-1 record in eight games (7 GS) on the mound, pitching to a 3.66 ERA in 39.1 innings with 30 strikeouts. His slash line of .392/.444/.497 as well as his 56 hits, 30 RBI and 18 stolen bases all marked career-highs. Brereton finished the year on an offensive tear, reaching base via a hit in 22 of the team's final 24 games including a 12-game hitting streak to end the season, batting .474 (45-for-95) during the stretch and in 15 of those 22 ballgames, he recorded at least two hits including seven such contests with three hits or more.
Diamond was one of two freshman tabbed to the All-UAA First team following an outstanding rookie season. In 38 games, Diamond turned in a .358 average with three doubles, three triples, 21 RBI and ranked second on the team with 38 runs, 49 hits and 15 stolen bases. Over the final 24 games, Diamond closed out the year collecting 34 hits in 81 at-bats (.420 average) and topping the squad with 31 runs and a .534 on-base percentage.
Adelman rounds out the Emory nominees as he earned All-UAA honors for the first time in his career after recording career-highs across the board in games played (39), runs scored (38), hits (49), doubles (12), RBI (15), walks (21), stolen bases (10) and a slash line of .371/.478/.485. He led the team in runs scored, doubles, walks, on-base percentage, sacrifice hits and was the lone Eagle to start in all 39 games.
The Eagles concluded the season on April 28th with a 20-19 overall record, the team's ninth straight winning season.
