Richard Brereton & Jack Masonis Sweep UAA Baseball Weekly Honors

Senior Richard Brereton and freshman Jack Masonis garnered weekly conference honors as members of the Emory University baseball team swept the UAA baseball awards for the second straight week.

After earning UAA Hitter of the Week acclaim last week, Brereton this time was recognized for his arm as he was solid again on the mound for the Eagles in the team's 18-1 drubbing of Millsaps Saturday afternoon at Huntingdon. Brereton went five innings, striking out seven batters and allowing an unearned run on three hits. He did not walk a batter as he improved to 2-0 on the young season.

Freshman Jack Masonis was tabbed as the conference's Hitter of the Week after he went 2-for-3 with three RBI in the 17-run victory over the majors. Masonis collected the first two hits of his career including the first for extra bases while driving in a team-high three runs in the win.

The Eagles will be at Berry College Wednesday night before hosting DePauw University in a Saturday doubleheader beginning at 11:00 AM at Chappell Park.
