Emory University senior Michael Edelman was named the University Athletic Association's Hitter of the Week Monday afternoon after helping the Eagles to a 2-1 week. It is the first career weekly honor for the outfielder.
Edelman had an all-around solid performance at the dish for the Emory offense against Piedmont and Sewanee this past week. Edelman led the team in hits (6), average (.429), doubles (2), home runs (1), RBI (6), slugging % (.786) and stolen bases (2). He recorded at least one hit and one RBI in all three games and his three RBI effort led the team to the 5-2 win in the opener of the doubleheader against the Tigers on Sunday.
The Eagles (6-5) return to the diamond next Tuesday, April 20th with a home matchup against Maryville College. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 PM from Chappell Park.
