A native of Lilburn-Stone Mountain, Ga., West came to Emory after spending five seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at The University of Texas at Dallas in Richardson, TX. During his tenure with the Comets, West helped guide the program to an overall record of 145-82 with two 30+ wins seasons in ’17 & ’18. The 2017 staff earned Coaching Staff of the Year for the American Southwest Conference while the team led all NCAA D3 programs in batting average at a .352% clip. Every season while at UTD, the Comets played in the post season finishing runner-up once and wining the conference tournament in 2018. Before arriving at UTD, West was an assistant coach at Denison University in Granville, OH. While at Denison University, West helped guide the Big Red to a pair of 20-win seasons as he worked under two head coaches. In his final season, DU posted a 25-16 overall record, the most wins by the program in five seasons.

Out of high school, West attended Palm Beach Atlantic University where he was named the NCCAA South Region Player of the Year as a sophomore. He posted a .416 batting average with 17 stolen bases en route to claiming NCCAA first team All-American recognition. He later transferred to San Diego Christian College where he received his bachelor's degree in Communications in 2008. Upon graduation, West served as SDCC's interim head coach in the fall of 2008 prior to taking the position at Denison. West also holds a M.S. in Sport Management with an Emphasis in Athletic Administration from Liberty University. West has tremendous experience within summer collegiate leagues across the country. In addition to coaching and winning a championship in the Cape Cod League in 2013, West has served as the general manager of the Licking County Settlers of the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League winning championships in both ’12 & ’13. Most recently, West served as the Manager for the Savannah Bananas of the Coastal Plains League winning the championship in their inaugural 2016 campaign.

West has had the opportunity to coach over 95 players affiliated with professional baseball, including three first round selections in the MLB draft (Bradley Zimmer, Jameson Hannah, & Braden Shewmake). West has coached 12 players to reach the Major League Level: Drew Jackson, Garrett Stubbs, Jared Walsh, Bradley Zimmer, Steven Duggar, Chris Ellis, Mike Ford, Aramis Garcia, Edwin Rios, Ryan Cordell, Phil Klein, & Joe Hudson.

Sean and his wife Kristen (formerly Kristen Adkins) live in Lawrenceville, GA with their two sons Tripp and Tate, ages 3 & 1.
