Freshman Stefano Butti helped the Emory golf team to a runner-up finish out of 12 teams at the Wynlakes Intercollegiate (Mar. 28-29) held in Montgomery, Alabama.
Butti tied Stephen Shephard of Huntingdon College for co-medalist honors in the 63-player field, with each player shooting 36-hole scores of three-under 141. Butti opened with a 72 on the first day of play before shooting a three-under 69 in the second round, with that mark tying for the tourney's best score.
His final mark of 141 tied the program's 10th-best score for a 36-hole tournament. So far this season, Butti ranks first on the squad in scoring average with an effort of 74.8 strokes over 13 rounds of action.
