Emory Golf Concludes Opening Round At NCAA D-III Championships

The No. 3-ranked Emory University golf team completed its first round of action at the NCAA Division III Championships on Tuesday afternoon.  The Eagles' opening day of competition took place on the 6,888, par-72 Los Colinas Course at the Mission Inn Resort located in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.

Emory holds down 13th place in the 42-team field after registering a 15-over par 303.
No. 1-ranked Huntingdon College stands first after the first 18 holes after posting a five-over par 293 on the El Campeon Course. There is a three-way tie for second with UT-Tyler, Rhodes College and LaGrange College all checking in at 296.

Sophomore Stefano Butti (Palm City, Fla.) turned in the squad's best score of the day, posting a two-over par 74, tying for 24th place out of 215 players. Freshman Matt Organisak (Sudbury, MA) was the next Eagle to appear on the leader board with a three-over 75 that saw him shoot a one-under 36 on the back nine. Sophomore Connor Yakubov (Columbus, OH) and freshman Sam Galloway (Neenah, WI) rounded out the team's scorers with each players finishing at 77.  Junior Keenan Hickton shot an 82.

Emory continues play on Wednesday when it plays on the 6,844 yard, par-72 El Campeon Course.
