Sjoberg A D-III Finalist For The Dave Williams Award Presented By Golf Pride Grips

Emory University head golf coach John Sjoberg has been named as one five NCAA Division III finalists for the Dave Williams Award presented by Golf Pride Grips. The announced was made by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).  Williams Award and regional coach of the year recipients will be announced June 5.

Joining Sjoberg as finalists are  Jordan Cox of Mary Hardin-Baylor, Carnegie Mellon's Dan Rodgers, Jeff Roope of Wittenberg, and Huntingdon's David Schreyer.  If a team wins the NCAA Championship and its coach was not previously named a finalist for the Dave Williams Award that coach will be added for coach of the year consideration.

Now in his sixth year at the helm of the program, Sjoberg directed the Eagles to their second straight University Athletic Association title. In addition, Emory took home first place at the Callaway Gardens Invitational.  Emory, currently ranked third in the Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll, has only placed outside the top five once in nine tournaments. Four Eagles were named all UAA, including Matt Organisak, who was the league's Player and Rookie of the Year.

The Eagles are currently competing at the NCAA D-III Championships at the Mission Inn Resort located in Howey-in-the Hills, Florida. Emory has made the championships on four occasions during Sjoberg's tenure as head coach.
