Emory sophomore Sam Galloway (Neenah, WI) has been selected by the University Athletic Association as Co-Golfer of the Week following his performance at the Royal Lakes-Oglethorpe Fall Invitational, held at the 6,856-yard, par-72 Royal Lakes Golf Club in nearby Flowery Branch. Galloway shares the award with Jason Li of Carnegie Mellon.
Both Galloway and Li captured berths on the Invitational's All-Tournament Team after tying for third place in the 102-player with scores of four-under par 140. For Galloway, his effort tied the program's fourth-best score for a two-round tournament. After shooting a one-over par 73 over the first 18 holes, Galloway shot a career-best 67 over the final round, tying the Eagles' fourth-best showing in school history. Galloway birdied three holes on the front nine and eagled the par-5 18th hole.
Galloway's performance helped No. 3 Emory to a runner-up finish out of 18 reams with a score of 583, four shots off the pace from Greenboro's No. 1 mark of 579.
The Eagles resume play, October 15-17, when they compete at the Golfweek DIII Invitational in San Destin, Florida.
