The No. 3-ranked Emory golf team made a big move up the leader board during the second round of the Golfweek DIII Fall Invitational. The 54-hole competition is being held on the 6,568-yard, par-71 Raven Course at the Sandestin (FL) Beach and Resort Club.

After beginning the day in 12th place, the Eagles moved up seven spots and now stand fifth out of 18 teams with a two-round effort of seven-over par 575. St. Thomas of Minnesota holds down first place with a six-under par 562 (284-278) while Illinois Wesleyan is nine shots off the pace at 571 (288-283). Huntingdon College (287-285—572) and Concordia University (280-294—574) and third and fourth, respectively.

Emory closed out the day shooting a season-best score of three-under par 281, with that mark the sixth-best performance in school history. The team's 281 was the second-best Monday score among the 18 teams, second only to St. Thomas' 278.

Junior Stefano Butti came through with the team's best round of the day, firing a career-best three-under 68 that gives him a 36-hole score of  one-over 143, good for a 16th-place tie in the 90-player field.  Senior Keenan Hickton played his second straight sub-par round, firing a two-under par 69, which tied his career best and leaves him with a team-leading mark of three-under par 139, tying for fifth place among the competitors. Sophomores Sam Galloway and Matt Organisak contributed to the team's scoring efforts by each shooting 72. Galloway stands at 149 through Monday's play, tying for 47th on the leader board, while Organisak, who shaved 11 shots off his total from Sunday, posts a 155. Junior Connor Yakubov checked in with a one-over 73 and his two-dayscore of 145 puts him in a tie for 28th place.

Sam Hill of UT-Tyler, who began the second round in 10th place, came through with a blistering six-under par 65 to move into the No. 1 position at seven under 135.

Emory will play its final round of the Invitational on Tuesday.
