The No. 5-ranked Emory University golf team completed its opening round of action at the Callaway Gardens Intercollegiate on Monday.   The 36-hole tourney is being played at the 6,934-yard, par-72 Mountain View Golf Course in Pine Mountain, Ga.

The Eagles stand fourth out of 18 teams after the first day of play, registering a team score of 292. No 18 Oglethorpe University holds down the top spot on the leader board with a three-under par 285. No. 6 Methodist is second at 290 while LaGrange College ranks third at 291.

Emory sophomore Matt Organisak is tied with Corrie Kuehn of Rhodes College for the first place after each player carded three-under par scores of 69.  After shooting even-par 36 on the front nine, Organisak came in at 33. Junior Connor Yakubov is tied for fifth position out of 102 players after shooting one-under 71.  Junior Anthony Muscato checked in with a 75 while senior Keenan Hickton and junior Stefano Butti closed out the day by each shooting 77.  Freshman Eric Yiu, playing as an individual, is in the hunt for medalist honors after firing a 71.

The final round will be played on Tuesday.
