Emory Golfers Earn All-Region & All-Scholar Recognition

The Emory men's golf team was well represented on two sets of awards that were recently announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

The Eagles saw two members of the program earn Division III PING All-South Region accolades, and a pair capture All-America Scholar recognition.

All-Region teams were selected for six regions throughout the country. Emory sophomore Matt Organisak and sophomore Sam Galloway were named to the Division III PING All-South Region Team.  For Organisak, who finished in a tie for 18th place at the NCAA D-III Championships, it is the second straight year that he played his way to all-region accolades.  Organisak wound up the year registering a team-leading 11 rounds of par or better and averaged a squad-best 73.1 strokes over 23 rounds, the second-best seasonal scoring average in school history.  Galloway logged 12 rounds of play over five tournaments and averaged 73.8 strokes per outing.  He tied for the team's best 36-hole score of the year, and fourth in school history, with a four-under par 140 (73-67) at the Royal Lakes-Oglethorpe Fall Invitational.   His final day mark of 67 at that tournament tied for the Eagles' second-best 18-hole effort of the season.

Senior Keenan Hickton and junior Connor Yakubov were among 37 golfers named as Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars for Division III.  Yakubov, who closed out season tied for seventh place at the NCAA Championships with a school-record tying mark of 289, averaged 73.9 strokes over 23 rounds of competition.  Hickton ranked second on the squad with seven rounds of par or better and averaged 74.0 strokes over 23 rounds.  It Hickton's second straight nod to the All-Scholar Team. To be eligible for Division III All-America Scholar status, an individual must be a junior or senior academically, have competed in at least two full years at the collegiate level, participated in at least 50 percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 79 and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. Recipients must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
