Top-Ranked Emory Golf Continues Season At Gordin Classic

The No. 1-ranked Emory golf team resumes action on Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 1-2) when it competes at the Gordin Classic.  The 54-hole event will be played at the Columbus Country Club.  36 holes will be played on Monday with the final round slated for Tuesday. Serving as the host will be Ohio Wesleyan.

The Eagles moved into the No. 1 position in the Bushnell Golfweek Top 25 Poll after holding down the No. 2 slot in the preseason rankings.  Emory received 10 of the 18 first-place votes and totaled 437 points, slightly ahead of Methodist's 426 points.

This year's field is stacked with talent as 11 of the 13 competing teams are ranked in the Top 25 Poll.  In addition to the top-ranked Eagles, other top-10 schools taking part include No. 2 Methodist, No. 3 Huntingdon, No. 4 Wittenberg, Nos. 5 Illinois Wesleyan and Washington and Lee, and No. 7 Guilford.

Comprising the Emory lineup for the tournament will be junior Matt Organisak, senior Connor Yakubov, sophomore Eric Yiu, junior Sam Galloway and freshman Logan Ryan

In its most recent outing, Emory opened its season (Sept. 17-18) with a first-place performance out of 18 teams at the NCAA D-III Preview, shooting a 54-hole of 866, 24 strokes better than runner-up Wittenberg.
