The No. 1-ranked Emory University golf team saw its bid to capture a second tournament title this fall come up short on Tuesday at the Tartan Invitational. The 54-hole event was played on the 7,156-yard, par-72 Laurel Valley Golf Club in Ligonier, Pennsylvania.

The Eagles and No. 4 Wittenberg tied for the top spot in the 12-team field with scores of 873, with the Tigers making up a six-shot deficit at the start of the day with a mark of six-over par 294 while Emory posted a 300.  Wittenberg would prevail on the first hole of a playoff, using a 25-foot birdie putt by Cameron Willis as the deciding shot while Emory's Matt Organisak missing the mark on his birdie attempt. No. 15 Greensboro recorded a third-place finish at 894 while No. 2 Methodist was fourth (898).

Organisak played his way to medalist honors, topping the 90-player field with a three-under score of 213 (73-67-73), tying the program's sixth-best individual effort for a 54-hole tournament. It marked the second time in his Emory career that Organisak was a medalist, with the previous occasions taking place at the 2017 Rhodes College Fall Classic when he co-tied for the No. 1 position.

Freshman Logan Ryan's 73 on Tuesday matched Organisak's as the team's top score of the round, enabling him to close out the Invitational at one-over par 217 (74-70-73), good for the No. 4 slot on the leader board.  Junior Sam Galloway and senior Connor Yakubov rounded out the Eagle scoring efforts over the final round with each player checking in with 77s. Galloway finished 13th overall with an effort of 223 (73-73-77) while Yakubov tied for 31st at 229 (72-80-77).  Though he did not figure into the team's scoring on Tuesday, sophomore Eric Yiu totaled a 228 (79-71-78), placing him a tie for 28th.

The Eagles return to action, Oct. 14-16, when they close out the fall portion of the schedule at the Golfweek D-III Invitational in San Destin, Florida.

Matt Organisak was the medalist at the Tartan Invitational with a score of three-under par 213.
