Emory Golf Finishes Tied For Fourth At Savannah Harbor Classic

The No. 1-ranked Emory University golf team came through with a solid second round of play on Tuesday which enabled it to finish in a tie for fourth-place out of 18 teams at the Savannah Harbor Classic. Hosting the 36-hole event was The Club at Savannah Harbor, a 7,084-yard, par-72 course.

Emory lopped 12 strokes off its opening round on Tuesday, carding a 293 that tied for the second-best score of the day and that left it at 598.  No. 2-ranked Huntingdon College took home first place honors with a mark of 586 (296-290) while No. 8 Methodist University was runner-up with an effort of 591 (298-293).  Hampden-Sydney claimed third with a score of 595 (298-297).  Tying Emory for fourth was Greensboro College (301-297).

Emory sophomore Eric Yiu fired the team's best score of the tournament on Tuesday, firing a one-under par 71 that left him tied for 13th place with a host of players in the 90-player field, including junior teammate Sam Galloway (75-73), at 148.  Junior Matt Organisak tied for 27th on the leader board with a score of 152 (76-76) with senior Connor Yakubov (80-73—153) and freshman Logan Ryan (77-78—155) tying for 33rd and 44th, respectively.  Freshman Andrew DiPetrillo, competing as an individual shot a three-over par 74 over the final 18 holes to finish at 149, good for a 17th place overall tie.

Emory will now gear up to defend its University Athletic Association championship, Mar. 9-10, at the Hammock Dunes Resort in Palm Coast, Florida.
