Emory Golf Eyes Wynlakes Intercollegiate

The No. 1-ranked Emory golf team returns to action on Monday and Tuesday (Apr. 1-2) when it takes part in the Wynlakes Intercollegiate.  The 36-hole event will be played on the 6,709-yard, par-72 Wynlakes Golf and Country Club in Montgomery, Alabama.

The Eagles of head coach John Sjoberg will be one of 15 squads hitting the course over the two days. This year's field is formidable with a total of five top-10 programs represented including #2 and host Huntingdon College, No. 7 Guilford College, No. 8 Carnegie Mellon and No. 10 Washington and Lee.

Emory recorded a third-place effort out of 16 teams a year ago, shooting a 598 that was eight shots off the pace of Wittenberg University's tourney-winning performance.

The Eagles are riding a hot streak, winning the program's fourth straight University Athletic Association Championship and following that with a first-place showing out of 30 teams at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational (Mar. 15-17).  Freshman Logan Ryan was tabbed as the UAA Golfer of the Week in recognition of his play at Jekyll Island, earning all-tournament honors after leading the team and tying for fourth place in the 150-player field, shooting a 54-hole score of five-under par 211.
