Emory Men's Golf Finishes Third At Savannah Invitational

The Emory University men's golf team concluded its opening spring tournament with a third-place finish at the Savannah Invitational.  The 54-hole event was held at the 6,845-yard, par-72 Savannah Harbor Golf Club.

Emory posted a final-day score of seven-under 281, wrapping up the competition with a mark of 19-under par 845 (287-277-281), representing the school's second-best total for a 54-hole tournament. Carnegie Mellon captured the No. 1 spot in the 18-team field, firing a torrid 19-under 269 on Tuesday to finish at 31-under 833.  Huntingdon College took home runner-up honors at 840 (283-282-275).  Methodist University and Guilford College deadlocked for fourth with each team closing out at 14-under par 850.

The Eagles saw three players break par during the final 18 holes, led by senior Sam Galloway and junior Eric Yiu, both of whom carded 69s. Senior Matt Organisak registered a two-under 70 while sophomore Logan Ryan rounded out the team's scoring efforts with a 73.  Sophomore Max Schwarz checked in with a 74.  For the tournament, Galloway and Yiu tied for 10th place in the 90-player field at six-under 210. Organisak tied for the No. 22 spot on the leader board at two-under 214 (73-71-70) while Schwarz (72-71-74) and Ryan (77-67-73) tied for 37th at 217.

Emory will now turn its attention to the University Athletic Association Championships, which will be held, Mar. 14-15 at the Hammock Dunes Resort in Palm Coast, Florida.  The Championships will implement match play with Emory taking on Rochester and Carnegie Mellon battling New York University on the first of action with the winners squaring off for the league title on Sunday.  The Eagles will enter UAAs as four-time defending champion.
