Men's Golf Makes Final Cut at NCAA Championships

The Emory University men's golf team has made the cut for the final rounds of the 2023 NCAA Championships following play Wednesday afternoon at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, Kentucky.

The Eagles shot a three-over 291 in the second round of the tournament and will be one of 18 teams to compete in the final two rounds for the national championship. Following two rounds of play, Methodist University and Piedmont University lead the field with a three-under 573. Behind them is a three-way tie for third between Carnegie Mellon, Christopher Newport and day-one leader St. John's (MN) with all three programs sitting at a one-over 577. Emory stands tied with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps for nine place at 581, eight strokes behind the leader.

Sophomore Michael Burry and Tony Li paced the Eagles in the second round of the championships with both golfers shooting under par. Li headlined the Eagles with six birdies on the front nine, shooting a six-under to help him card a three-under 69 for the round. Burry went one-under for the day thanks to six birdies of his own, including four on the back nine. Li will enter Thursday tied for 25th individually while Burry stands in a tie for 38th.

Day one standout in freshman Brian Hanson continued to remain in contention for the individual title, finishing at two-over 74 and now stands in a tie for fifth. Junior Jackson Klutznick and sophomore Nicholas Nautiyal each finished Wednesday with a 77 to go seven-over across the first two rounds.

The NCAA Championships will continue Thursday morning with moving day.
