Men's Golf Finishes 11th at NCAA Championships

The Emory University men's golf team wrapped up play at the NCAA Championships Friday afternoon, finishing the week-long tournament 11th overall.

The Eagles closed out the championship on a strong note, tying a round low for this year's championships by shooting a collective 290 to finish 26-over for the week. Fellow UAA member Carnegie Mellon University captured the team national championship following a nine-under final round, besting second place Piedmont University by six strokes overall.

Freshman Brian Hanson closed out his impressive NCAA debut with a two-under 70 in the final round, finishing at plus-two for the week. Individually, he led the five Eagles in attendance as he tied for 21st. Sophomore Nicholas Nautiyal shot even par on Friday, his best round of the tournament, to finish at +10 and in a tie for 47th.

Classmate Tony Li ended the day at one-over 73 to end the four rounds with a combined score of 294. Junior Jackson Klutznick carded a 75 on the final day to finish at 303 while sophomore Michael Burry shot an 81 in the fourth round to give him a four-day total of 306.

The 2023 NCAA Championships marked the third straight year the Eagles had made the final cut after previously finishing in sixth and fifth place, respectively, in 2021 and 2022.
