Four From Men's Golf Honored on All-Region Team; Klutznick & Burry Named to PING All-America First Team

The Emory University men's golf team was well-represented on the year-end awards lists as announced this week in conjunction with the NCAA Championships.

Sophomore Michael Burry and junior Jackson Klutznick headlined the Eagles honored as both were named to the PING All-America First Team. In addition, Burry and Klutznick were two of four Eagles named to the GCAA All-Region team along with sophomore Tony Li and freshman Brian Hanson. Head Coach John Sjoberg was also recognized as a finalist for the Dave Williams National Coach of the Year award.

Burry earns his first-ever All-America distinction after leading the Eagles in his sophomore season. Burry, who previously was honored as the UAA Player of the Year, paced the team in scoring and was the team's leading scorer on five different occasions. He closed his second-year with a 306 performance across four rounds at the NCAA Championships.

Klutznick makes his second straight appearance on the All-America First Team after finishing behind Burry in scoring this season. Klutznick finished strong in the spring as he led the Eagles in scoring over the final three regular season tournaments and was honored with his second All-UAA First Team selection.

Li secures his second All-Region selection as he contributed to the No. 3 position during his sophomore campaign. A two-time All-UAA choice including First Team kudos earlier this spring, Li carded the second-best individual score for the Eagles at this year's NCAA Championships.

Hanson's rookie season culminated in a solid performance at the NCAA Championships where he topped the Eagles in scoring, including a personal-best round of 67 on the opening day. This spring, Hanson was honored as one of two freshman on the All-UAA team as he earned Second Team honors and finished just under a 75 per round scoring average.

Sjoberg rounds out the year-end honorees as he was one of five coaches named as finalists for the prestigious award. Sjoberg's Eagles were ranked as the unanimous No. 1 team in the country for most of the 2022-23 season, winning six tournaments including four in the spring and finished 11th at the NCAA Championships after making the final cut for the third straight year.
