Senior Anthony Fernandez came off the bench to
average 19.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game in
helping the Eagles to a pair of victories against UAA foes.
In an 80-67 win against Carnegie Mellon on Friday, the 6-foot-4
Fernandez picked up 15 points, second high on the club, sinking
seven-of-10 from the field and one-of-two from the charity
stripe. In addition, he picked up five rebounds, tying for
second high on the team, and added one steal in 21 minutes of
action. On Sunday, Fernandez led all players with a
season-high 23 points in sparking Emory to a 98-89 decision over
Case that raised the team's record to 9-4, 2-1 in the UAA.
Fernandez converted eight-of-10 from the floor, including
three-of-four from three-point range, and was successful on all
four free throw opportunities. He tied for team honors with
five rebounds and added one steal in 23 minutes.
All totaled, Fernandez sank 75 percent (15-of-20) of his field goal
attempts in the two games including 60 percent (3-of-5) from beyond
the arc. Fernandez has scored in double figures in four of
his last five and in a total six games this season.
