Junior Christopher Avant helped the Emory men's basketball team to a pair of wins over South Region opponents.

The 6-foot-8 Avant averaged a team-best 15.0 points and was second on the squad in rebounding (6.5 rpg) as the Eagles subdued Birmingham Southern and Piedmont College.  After picking up 10 points and five boards in a 75-70 decision over Birmingham Southern,  Avant led all players with 20 points and topped Emory with eight boards in a 65-59 verdict at Piedmont College.  He ended that game sinking eight-of-13 from the floor and three-of-five from the stripe in registering his sixth double-figure scoring performance of the campaign. 

Through seven games, Avant is scoring at a 13.0 per-game clip, good for the No. 3 spot on the team, and is pulling down a team-leading 8.0 rebounds per outing.
