Jim Gordon

Senior Jim Gordon led the Emory men's basketball team in scoring and rebounding as the Eagles came away with a pair of home wins.

Gordon averaged 27.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in contests against Case Western Reserve and Carnegie Mellon. He shot 59.3 percent (16 of 27) from the floor, including 53.3 percent (8 of 15) from beyond the arc, and converted 15-of-21 from the charity stripe.

Gordon led all players in scoring, pouring in a career-high 30 points, and topped Emory with nine boards, in a 99-92 overtime victory over Case Western. He ended the evening converting eight-of-13 field goals, including four treys in seven attempts, and sank 10 free throws in 12 tries.  He totaled 16 first-half points against the Spartans, which helped keep Emory in the game when they trailed by nine at the break.  He followed that effort by again pacing all players with 25 points, 21 over the final 20 minutes of action, in an 88-73 decision over Carnegie Mellon.  He was successful on eight field goals in 14 opportunities, including four-of-eight three-point shooting, and sank five free throws en route to his 22nd double-figure scoring game of the year and fifth of 20 or more points.   Gordon did a fair share of his damage over a three-minute stretch in the second stanza, scoring the final 11 points of a 13-2 Emory burst that stretched a three-point lead to 74-60 with 7:25 left in the game.

A starter in all 24 games this year, Gordon is second on the team and eighth among UAA players in scoring average (15.7 ppg).
