Emory's Adam Gigax Named UAA Men's Basketball Player Of The Week

Emory University junior Adam Gigax (Mason, OH) has been selected as the University Athletic Association Men's Basketball Player of the Week following his efforts in road contests against Case Western Reserve and Carnegie Mellon.  It is the first time in his career that he has been chosen for the award.

The 6-foot-7 Gigax averaged 23.5 points and 5.0 rebounds in the two outings.  He shot 50 percent (16 of 32) from the floor, including 40 ercent (6 of 15) from three-point range, and drained nine-of-10 from the stripe.

In a 91-81 victory over the Spartans of CWRU, Gigax topped all players with 31 points, his eighth outing of 20 or more points this year, knocking down 10-of-18 field goals, five-of-six treys and all six free throw opportunities.  His totaled 20 second-half points in helping Emory outpoint Case by a 52-39 margin.  In addition, he grabbed a game-best eight rebounds.  He followed that performance by finishing as the squad's No. 2 scorer with a 16-point afternoon in a 93-77 outcome against Carnegie Mellon, his 14th double-digit contest this year.

Gigax a starter in all 16 games, tops the league in scoring with a 19.4 points-per-game average. In addition, he is second on the league ladder with an average of 3.3 treys per outing, good for the No. 28 spot among all D-III players. His 52 triples slot him in the No. 2 position in the conference and 33rd nationally.  In conference play, he tops the UAA in scoring (19.8 ppg).

Emory, 12-4 overall and 3-2 in UAA outings, returns to action this Friday (Jan. 27) when it plays host to Brandeis University in a scheduled 8:00 pm tip.
