Matt Schner

Sophomore Matt Schner led the Emory men's basketball team in both scoring and rebounding in helping the Eagles to a pair of home University Athletic Association victories.

The 6-foot-4 Schner averaged 22.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in wins over Case Western Reserve and Carnegie Mellon that boosted the team's record to 12-4 overall, 3-2 in the league. In addition, he shot a blistering 85.7 percent (18-of-21) from field, including 87.5 percent (7-of-8) from three-point range, and doled out nine assists.

In a 91-74 verdict over Case Western, Schner registered his first career double-double totaling 15 points while topping all players with a career-high 12 rebounds. He was successful on five-of-six field goal tries and knocked down three-of-four from beyond the arc.  Schner also dished out a game-high tying six assists. He followed that with a huge effort in the Eagles' 116-100 outcome over Carnegie Mellon, pacing all players with a career-high 30 points, 21 coming in the opening half, while leading the team with nine rebounds. He closed out the afternoon, 13-of-15 from the floor and converted all four of his three-point opportunities in notching his 11th double-figure performance of the campaign. His 13 field goals represented the high-water mark by an Emory player this year and tied the progrqam's 17th-highest individual game total. In addition, he contributed three assists and three steals.

On the year, Schner has started all 16 Emory contests and ranks fourth on the club in scoring (13.0 ppg) and is second in rebounding (6.6 rpg).
