Junior Matt Davet helped the No. 6-ranked Emory men's basketball team to a season-opening win at Guilford College.

The 6-foot-7 Davet tied for game scoring honors with 18 points in the 89-67 triumph over the No. 19 Quakers, ending the contest four-of-seven from the floor, including three-of-six from three-point range, and seven-of-eight from the charity stripe. He also came up with a pair of steals and one blocked shot in helping Emory to its 10th win in its last 11 season openers. Davet accounted for 12 points during a 19-2 scoring barrage that gave the Eagles a 32-13 bulge midway through the opening half, hitting three three-point shots with his final also resulting in a four-point play.

Emory returns to action on Nov. 12 at Berry College.
