The successful start to the 2019-20 season that the Emory men's basketball team has turned in has caught the attention of the voters who participate in the D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll.

In the first regular-season poll that was released on Monday evening, the Eagles are ranked No. 2 behind Swarthmore College.  Emory collected two of the 25 first-place ballots cast and totaled 567 points.  The Garnet of Swarthmore tallied 23 first-place votes and logged 623 points.  Amherst (550 pts.) stands third while Wittenberg (531 pts.) and Middlebury (479 pts.) round out the top five.  Emory had been ranked 6th in the D3hoops.com Preseason Poll.

Emory has gotten off to a 4-0 start with all of its win coming by 10 or more points, most recently an 84-60 triumph against Oglethorpe this past Saturday.  The Eagles are averaging 91.5 points per game, tops among University Athletic Association schools.

The No. 2 national ranking in the D3hoops.com Poll represents the highest spot ever in program history.  The previous high came in the Jan. 24, 2012 Poll when the Eagles were ranked No. 4.

Emory closes out a three-game home stand on Tuesday (Nov. 26) when it welcomes Covenant College (3-1) to the Woodruff PE Center for a 7:00 pm tip.
