Lawrence Rowley Tabbed For UAA Men's Basketball Honor

Emory University junior Lawrence Rowley (Ypsilanti, MI) has been selected by the University Athletic Association as Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week after helping the Eagles to a pair of home wins.  It is the first time this season and second in his career that he has been recognized by the conference.

The 6-foot-5 Rowley tied for the team scoring lead (17.5 ppg) and was second in rebounding (7.5 rpg) as the Eagles topped New York University and Brandeis University. He ended the weekend shooting 60 percent (12-of-20) from the floor, including 62.5 percent (5-of-8) from three-point range, and 85.7 percent (6-of-7) from the charity stripe.

Rowley totaled 14 points, hitting five-of-six field goals, including a pair of triples, and grabbed seven rebounds in a 99-81 triumph over NYU. He followed that performance by dialing up 21 points (second on the team), knocking down seven field goals in 14 attempts, including a career-high tying three triples in six attempts in a 93-65 win over Brandeis. He was second on the team with eight rebounds and also chipped in four assists and two steals. Lawrence has now scored in double figures on 17 occasions this year.

A starter in all 22 Emory contests, he is fourth on the team's score sheet in scoring at 13.4 points per outing while his team-high 8.2 per-game mark in rebounding ranks third on the UAA ladder.

Rowley shares this week's UAA award with DeVaughn Rucker of Washington University.

No. 8-ranked Emory, 19-3 in overall play and tied for the top spot in the league at 9-2, returns to action on Friday, Feb. 21, when it plays at Carnegie Mellon.
