Men's Basketball Sinks Team Record 21 Threes in 94-66 Win at Carnegie Mellon

The Emory University men's basketball team established a single game school record for three pointers made as the Eagles handily defeated Carnegie Mellon University, 94-66, Sunday afternoon in Pittsburgh, PA.

Emory sank 21 three pointers in the 28-point victory, the most in a contest in team history breaking the previous record of 19 set back on December 1, 2018 in a 116-77 win over Trinity University. The Eagles went 21-for-36 (58.3%) from behind the arc, the highest three-point percentage turned in this season.

Six different Eagles drained a three-pointer with senior Romin Williams sinking a team-best six treys as he had a season-high 20 points in 23 minutes off the bench. With his six made threes, Williams eclipsed Robert Spivey (227) to become the all-time leader in program history with 230 in his career. Senior Matthew Schner made five threes as he finished with a game-high 25 points on 9-of-16 shooting. Fellow senior Nick Stuck drilled four from deep as he recorded 14 points to go along with eight assists and six rebounds. Freshman Albert Fallas continued his hot stretch as went 3-for-6 from three-point land as he had an 11-point effort. Elsewhere, junior Greg Lawrence contributed eight points, including 2-for-2 from distance, as well as setting career-highs with 10 rebounds and five assists in 18 minutes in reserve.

The Eagles had 29 assists total, one shy of tying the all-time single game team record, as they made 35 field goals. 63 of the team's 94 points came from long range as the Eagles registered their second-highest team scoring total this season.

Emory came out of the gates red-hot again making 10 three-pointers in the opening half for the second straight game, leading to a 44-35 halftime lead. The Eagles did not let up in the second half, converting eight three pointers across the first 10 minutes out of the locker room to stretch the lead to 26 at 73-47 following a Stuck three with 10:33 remaining. Back-to-back threes by Williams and Lawrence helped set the record and give Emory its largest lead at 89-57 with 4:34 to go before eventually settling on the 28-point final margin.

Emory, now 11-4 overall and 4-1 in the UAA, returns home for two games next weekend against Brandeis and NYU to round out the first half of the conference schedule. As a reminder, no fans will be permitted to attend either contest at the WoodPEC as Emory is still operating under an orange condition.
